Medical-clinical procedures in assisted reproduction by their very nature generate emotional stress since in every couple there is a story, and this causes an impact according to the belief system. Accepting that medical assistance is required to become pregnant means an important confrontation with the life plans that were in accordance with the logic of what is expected in the life line. Such confrontation implies emotional stress that generates disharmony in the body systems.
From an integrative point of view, assisted reproduction treatments, in addition to the medical aspect, require emotional accompaniment to help reduce stress as much as possible and live the experience towards the encounter with pregnancy in the most peaceful way possible.
Emotional well-being is necessary for the encounter with pregnancy since it is one of the most important decisions in life.
On one occasion I asked a couple why they wanted to have children at this time in their life and they answered: “because we want to be a family”.
In response, I made it clear to them that they are already a family and what they now seek is to reconfigure their family with children.
This is an example of the belief system that may consider that family is only when you have children or otherwise you are incomplete in your life as a couple.
By opening up to new possibilities our creative mind goes into action to co-create and find new emotional and life horizons. The possibility of even requiring assisted reproduction treatment to have children helps to process new thoughts.
For the future parents who read this today, I propose to envision themselves as a complete family and go out to meet their children with fullness and joy.
